Natalie is the founder of Natalie Plumstead Legal Consulting a firm dedicated to mental health law, advocacy and legislative drafting.
Natalie frequently acts as a solicitor advocate for clients at Tribunal hearings and instructing solicitor in common law declaratory relief matters. She applies her deep knowledge and sophisticated expertise in mental health law to give clients legal advice on the provision of mental health services, human rights and the making of orders that apply to clients.
Natalie’s writing on rights-based principles that apply to the provision of mental health services is published in law journals. She is applying her expertise in mental health law by exploring future law reform proposals as a committee member of the Disability Law and Health Law Committees of the Law Institute of Victoria.
Natalie has significant experience as a legislative drafter and instructor on law reform proposals for national and subnational governments. She is a member of the Commonwealth Association of Legislative Counsel and has extensive experience as a legislative drafter in Victoria and internationally. Her article exploring the role of the legislative drafter and instructor is published in the December 2024 edition of The Loophole Journal of the Commonwealth Association of Legislative Counsel.
